The child required a balloon endoscopic procedure to correct the narrowing of his food pipe.

Biliary atresia is a chronic, progressive liver problem that becomes evident shortly after birth. Tubes in the liver, called bile ducts, normally allow a liquid produced by the liver called bile to drain into the intestines and kidneys. Bile aids in digestion and carries waste products from the liver to the intestine and kidneys for excretion. In biliary atresia, bile ducts in the liver are blocked.A liver transplant operation removes the damaged liver due to blocked bile duct and replaces it with a new liver from a donor.

The child belongs to an impoverished family from palakkad. They survive on the earnings of her father who is a semi-skilled labourer.

Meningitis is a swelling (inflammation) of the thin membranes(meninges) that cover the brain and the spinal cord. Meningitis is most often caused by a bacterial or viral infection that moves into the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF). CSF is the fluid that protects and cushions the brain and spinal cord.
Diya Fertal , a 6 year old, was admitted at Aster Medcity due to meningitis and had to undergo costly medical management.
The family of 6 reside in a small house in 4 cents of land at an interior part of Kochi. Her Father, an electrician, is the only breadwinner of the family.

The problem: An estimated 15 million babies are born too early every year. That is more than 1 in 10 babies. Approximately 1 million children die each year due to complications of preterm birth. Baby Saira Banu was premature at birth. She was admitted to our state of the art NICU services at Aster Medcity Kochi.
The child had a long and eventful stay here owing to the problems of immaturity. Her Father is a petty shop owner. His earnings weren't sufficient to keep up with Saira’s hospital expenses.
ASK contributed generously to aid her treatment. Saira was discharged a healthy baby.

The family stays for rent at Bolgatty Island, Kochi.His father is an income auditor at a premium Hotel and makes a meager income.
